The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has an option for off-roaders in the form of the ZR2, but there’s still a void in the lineup for a high-performance off-road truck to take on vehicles like the Ford F-150 Raptor R and upcoming Ram 1500 RHO (the TRX’s tamer replacement).

Suspension expert Fox Factory has decided to fill that void by this week revealing the 2024 Chevy Silverado Fox Factory Edition. Fox is the same company that has supplied dampers for multiple generations of the Raptor, and for its custom Silverado the company teamed up with off-road racing expert Brenthel Industries, led by brothers Jordan and Jonathan Brenthel.

Naturally, the truck gets Fox’s top-of-the-line dampers, in this case its 3.2 Live Valve Internal Bypass coil-over dampers which rely on various inputs, including steering angle, brake, and throttle position, and continuously adjust the compression and rebound in real-time to suit the conditions. They also feature a toggle switch on the dash that allows the driver to change between several pre-programmed damping algorithms.

Other suspension components are supplied by Brenthel Industries, including the company’s Baja Kits long travel front suspension and rear aluminum trailing arms. The result is close to 15 inches of travel front and rear. The addition of the new suspension, plus 37-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 wrapped around a set of 17-inch Method Race forged wheels, adds 7.5 inches to the width of the truck, increasing it to 88.5 inches in total.

To ensure adequate performance under the hood, Fox has added a Whipple supercharger to the Silverado’s 6.2-liter V-8, upping output from 420 to 700 hp. Drive is routed to all four wheels via the stock 10-speed automatic and 2-speed transfer case, plus a front axle featuring RCV CVs and a rear setup with a JE Reel driveline and a full-width semi-float Dana 60 axle that features a 3.73 gear set, ARB Air Locker locking differential, and 35-spline shafts.

The design of the truck is also taken care of with custom steel bumpers and skid plates, additional lighting, and carbon-fiber body panels including the hood, flared fenders, and the bedsides. There are upgrades for the cabin as well, where more carbon fiber can be found, in addition to leather and Alcantara trim. Hardware upgrades include the aforementioned toggle switch for the dampers, plus a six-switch panel to control accessories. Finally, each truck is numbered with a serialized dash plaque.

Fox is currently accepting orders for the truck. All the upgrades come at a steep price as Fox estimates the starting price to come in at $209,999. Just 500 are destined to be built and each will be offered with a three-year, 36,000-mile warranty. Fox hasn’t said when deliveries will start.

According to the seller, today’s Nice Price or No Dice Torino convertible is one of 1,613 GTs built for 1971. There are likely way fewer left today, so let’s find out what such scarcity might reasonably be worth.

It could be argued that the 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLK500 that we adjudicated yesterday is still a modern car, despite being almost two decades old. Notably, the same probably couldn’t have been said about a 1986 Benz when our CLK was new. That fact, along with a pleasant presentation and desirable amount of kit, made our “current classic” CLK a winner at its $9,500 asking price. That came away with a solid 82 percent Nice Price win.

Yesterday’s Benz was nice, well-priced, and modern enough to be a daily driver with a bit of panache. What are we to make, then, of a true classic like this 1971 Ford Torino GT convertible? Could it rationally be used on the daily? Well, sure. But at its price and with its ’70s tech and safety, would that really be its best use? Or, has this elder statesman ascended to the more limited role of a weekend cruiser and car show show-off?

Ford introduced the Torino as a trim option on the mid-sized Fairlane for the 1968 model year. By 1970, Torino ruled the roost with the Fairlane nameplate playing second fiddle. In 1971, Ford had dropped the Fairlane name entirely, choosing to go all-in on Torino as its mid-sized model identifier.

The 1971 model year was also notable for being the last year that manufacturers would rate their engines in gross horsepower rather than the more realistic net numbers. That means that in 1971 the two-barrel-equipped Windsor 302 V8 powering this GT was touted as having 220 horsepower. For 1972, the standardized SAE net rating, along with some additional strangulation from emissions updates, reduced that rated number to a measly 140 horsepower. Sheesh, good thing this is a ’71.

Along with the 302, this Torino sports a C4 three-speed automatic and a power convertible top. The GT package came standard with the 302, with a 351 as an extra-cost option. Also included with the model were GT badges for the rockers and grille and a non-functional scoop stamped into the hood.

One cool option not checked on this car’s build sheet is the hidden headlamp nose. This car’s fixed lamps still look good, housed in the split-grille nose and wrapped by both arched eyebrow fenders and blade-style bumper, but the hidden lamps are even better looking. At the back end, the car sports a full-width tail lamp look with a reflective panel bridging the lights on either side. It all vibes as more ’60s than ’70s, which is a good thing seeing as it is saved from the oversized bumpers that tainted later cars.

The seller describes the car as being in “very good condition,” and notes recent service that replaced the radiator and thermostat, as well as the power steering pump and included a rebuild of the transmission. The BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires are also touted as new. Those are wrapped around handsome Magnum-style wheels. Above that, the blue paint seems to be in serviceable shape and is matched with what looks to be a black tonneau and top. We don’t actually get to see the top erected—nor much, if any, of the interior—so we’ll have to judge the car with those elements outstanding. What we do know is that the car comes with just over 108,000 miles on the ticker and a clean title. The asking price is $34,500.

اتومبیل های نوری سان برای خود صحبت می کنند، که احتمالاً همان چیزی است که سوگیموتو سان برای خدماتش از او خواسته است. لیست نسبتاً طولانی از اهدافی بود که باید با 510 کوچک او برآورده می شد، اولین مورد در مورد سبک بود. این خودرو باید ساده و بسیار ظاهری به نظر می‌رسید، اما برای کسانی که می‌دانند به این معنی است که در همه مکان‌های مناسب با آن برخورد شده است. با چنین شکل نمادینی – که حتی خود نیسان نیز در فکر پذیرش مجدد آن در صورتی که کانسپت IDx اخیر مورد استفاده قرار گیرد – این مسئله این بود که تمام جزئیات ظریف را به روشی درست انجام دهیم.

چرخ‌های عقب یک اینچ پهن‌تر از جلو هستند و لاستیک Neova AD08 در اینجا نیز ظاهر می‌شود، با همان عرض متوسط ​​195/45R16. همان ظاهر قرمز آنودایز شده روی ترمزهای درام عقب اعمال شده است تا به تعادل رنگی که تقریباً تنها رنگ در کل نمای بیرونی سفید است کمک کند.

برای اینکه قسمت عقب درست بنشیند، گلگیرها کمی گشاد، کشیده و صاف شدند تا درست روی دیواره کناری لاستیک بیفتند. این یک لمس کوچک است که به قدری خوب اجرا شده است، که باید فکر کنید که آیا از کارخانه وجود دارد یا بعداً اضافه شده است.

سوگیموتو سان در کنار لوگوی باراموندی، نام استودیوی طراحی خود را نیز با افتخار بر روی شیشه جلوی بلوبرد به نمایش می گذارد.

اجرای واقعاً ستودنی است، رویکرد ساده و تمیز باعث می‌شود که خودرو بیش از یک مورد برجسته باشد که به‌روزرسانی‌های بصری شدیدتری مانند گلگیرها را به رخ می‌کشد.

نوک کوچکی از کلاه به پیتر براک از BRE با تنها افزودنی خارجی واقعی – اسپویلر لبه‌ای دندانه دار – در جلو داده می‌شود که به خودرو کمک می‌کند هنگام مشاهده از جلو کمی پایین‌تر و کمی خطرناک‌تر به نظر برسد. پروژکتورها به لامپ‌های کمی روشن‌تر مجهز شده‌اند – همیشه منطقه‌ای که ماشین‌های قدیمی به شدت خراب می‌شوند – که رنگ آبی و زرد عجیبی را به لنزها می‌دهد. سوگیموتو که از ظاهرش راضی بود، درخواست ویژه‌ای از نوری کرد و این در مورد عملکرد بود. او قدرت مناسبی می‌خواست اما به شیوه‌ای سرگرم‌کننده و مدرن ارائه می‌شد، و این دقیقاً همان چیزی است که این 510 را بسیار خاص می‌کند.

ارسال درایو به چرخ های عقب یک F20C است که از هوندا S2000 قرض گرفته شده است. واحد VTEC که به صورت طولی نصب شده است مانند یک دستکش در محفظه موتور کوچک داتسون قرار می گیرد. این پوشش غیرقابل انکار بادامک باعث می‌شود فوراً به این فکر کنید که 250 اسب با دور بالا چه حسی خواهند داشت که 900 کیلوگرم داتسون 510 را پیش می‌برند.

اما به همین جا ختم نمی شود. ما هنوز باید به جزئیاتی نگاه کنیم که این شگفت‌انگیزترین تعویض‌ها را تکمیل می‌کنند – مواردی مانند ورودی هوای سرد که به گونه‌ای شکل می‌گیرد که فیلتر مخروطی کاغذی تنها خنک‌ترین هوای ورودی به محفظه موتور را جذب کند. یا هدرهای سفارشی، دست ساز اینکونل از مغازه ای در سوزوکا که در گذشته منیفولدهای F1 می ساخت.

F20C با گیربکس 6 سرعته S2000 جایگزین شد، بنابراین انتخاب دنده ها از طریق شیفتر دقیق و محکم به همان اندازه لذت بخش است. یک مهار کامل AP1 و ECU نیز بخشی از این مبادله بود که به آسانی کار کمک کرد. «ساده» کلمه عملی در این پروژه بود، علی‌رغم پیچیدگی اتصال یک موتور متفاوت به خودرو.

همه اینها به داخل کابین نیز کشیده می شود، هر لمسی به جای اینکه با جزئیات و تغییرات غیرضروری از آن خارج شود، به قابلیت رانندگی و راحتی خودرو می افزاید. به عنوان مثال، صندلی‌های R33 GT-R از اقلام نیسان هستند، بنابراین یک ارتقاء مناسب و کمک می‌کند تا سوگیموتو و سرنشینش به خوبی در پیچ‌ها پشتیبانی شوند و در عین حال در آن رانندگی‌های روزمره راحت باشند.

با ویژگی‌های هندلینگ جدید، بدون اشاره به عملکردی که باعث می‌شود خودرو کمی وحشی‌تر شود، ترجیح داده می‌شود به سمت فرمان مدرن Momo حرکت کنیم، لبه‌های درشت آن به صورت سفارشی با چرم پیچیده شده و پره‌های آن از وینیل کربنی به نظر می‌رسد. .

در کنار F20C و دستگاه سیم‌کشی، ابزار دیجیتالی S2000 نیز به کار گرفته شد و این جزئیات است که نه تنها کابین خودرو را بسیار خاص می‌کند، بلکه آن حس کامل را به تزریق هوندا می‌افزاید. صدای سفارشی آلپاین نیز به همراه یک سیستم ناوبری اضافه شده است.
